The Long Day

Deirdre and Justin had planned to start at 7:00 am and work until 5:00 as it was the start of the long August weekend and they both were driving home to Peterborough. Start at 7:00 am we did, but those two did not get down off the roof for the day until 8:30 pm, as they did not want to leave the sheets partially installed.
After all of the full sheets were up, they then went back up and fastened them entirely. 76 minutes for one side, 650 screws installed, they then moved onto the other side. A few battery changes later, they were done. Can't imagine how this would have been done with corded tools. What a pain that must have been in years gone-by.
At the end of the day, the screws lined up beautifully, not only across the roof, but diagonally as well. A thing of beauty that few will recognise, but we will never forget the effort that went into it.
There is still detailing that needs being done such as the ridge cap and ventilation, end caps etc, but at least now the heavens can rain down and we can still work!!
