After layout strings and the starter strips were installed, we were ready for the steel installation.
Our method was to drill all of the holes on the ground, so four sheets of steel at a time were drilled, according to measurements that corresponded to the strap spacing on the roof. We used the garage slab to do this on. Shaded and flat, a nice contrast to the rugged terrain and blazing sun up around the house. The first sheet was drilled accordingly, and became our template for further drilling.
Then the four of us carried two sheets at a time to the staging area. Once stacked there, three of us hand-bombed them up to the roof, where Deirdre was waiting. She would grab the sheet, haul it up the roof and then Justin would scurry up the ladder to give her a hand in placing the sheet and fastening it.
We hope no professional roofers are reading this to "steel" our method!!
Which brings me to this posts title. We thought up and tried to use as many puns, songs, movie lines, punch lines and bad one-liners we could think of, that had to do with steel. Once we tapped those out, we moved onto "sheet" and lastly onto "screwing". In my immature mind, it sure made the task a lot more enjoyable.
